Livingston County Habitat for Humanity is committed to ongoing projects that improve the quality of housing and the positive impact on our neighborhoods.

A Brush with Kindness (ABWK) is a housing preservation program within Livingston County Habitat for Humanity’s (LCHFH) core building program. It enables LCHFH to serve a different population (existing homeowners) yet follows the same basic tenants (need, ability to pay, and willingness to partner). The program focuses on home repair projects, such as storm doors, ramps, porches, steps, and sidewalk repairs. Some interior repairs are possible. Projects that are considered improvements to the property are not included. All repairs are based on ABWK volunteers’ availability and resources. The program does not undertake large or major repairs, such as window replacements, house painting, roofing, remodeling, or regular maintenance of the property. As with our new construction program, labor is provided and performed by LCHFH volunteers.
